The Opportunity
WCCLS is hiring a Library Systems & Collections Supervisor<https://www.governmentjobs.com/careers/cowashingtonor/jobs/4340199/library-systems-collections-supervisor> under the direction of our Operations Manger (PJ Bentley). In this role, you will lead an expert team of librarians who manage the cooperative’s integrated library system, discovery layer, catalog holdings, and digital collections. You will be key to ensuring library staff have the system tools they need to do their work, that everyone in the community has easy, reliable access to library resources, and that WCCLS continues to provide a rich and diverse collection of ebooks, audiobooks, streaming video, and learning platforms. The scope of work will include leading projects, coordinating processes across teams and with libraries, and working with other team leaders to plan and set priorities.
About WCCLS
WCCLS is not a library. We are a Washington County department of 36 FTE that supports 16 public library locations. We partner with nine cities and three non-profit organizations that operate their local libraries, giving patrons access to 1.5 million items in our shared collection. WCCLS provides the majority of funding for all public libraries in the county, and we reduce costs by efficiently centralizing operations such as our shared catalog, logistics, digital library collections, IT, and more. Learn more about WCCLS at wccls.org/about<https://www.wccls.org/about/about-wccls>.

* Collaborating with WCCLS Marketing & Communications to promote digital collections.
* Leading a high profile and complex multi-team project to launch or transition a new subscription or ILS feature.

Your Team
The Library Systems & Collections team is integral to the success of WCCLS and our cooperative. The team provides, supports, and manages essential library infrastructure (the ILS, discovery layer, public catalog, records, staff applications) and manages WCCLS digital collections for the public. Your team will include a Systems & Discovery Librarian, Cataloging Librarian, E-Content Librarian, and Collections & Online Resources Librarian.
Who You’ll Work With
You will report to the Operations Manager. The Operations division includes Library Systems & Collections, Business Operations, Materials Movement, and Patron Services. You and your team will work closely with the teams within Operations and with the WCCLS IT team. In addition to WCCLS teams, Library Systems & Collections works with subject matter experts at libraries to make system improvements, adjust local settings, support catalogers, and gather staff input on the ILS and digital collections.
Who You Serve
Library Systems & Collections serves the community. You will provide easy, reliable, secure access to library resources and cardholder accounts, endeavoring to remove barriers and streamline processes. You will maintain a beloved digital collection of ebooks, audiobooks, streaming video, and learning platforms, looking to expand accessibility, languages, and representation within the collection.
Library Systems & Collections serves library staff. The integrated library system is essential for daily operations at every library, and you and your team will be responsible for backend maintenance, process improvement, documentation, and system administration that allows library staff to do their work.
As a WCCLS supervisor, you will serve your team. With over 400 library staff throughout the cooperative, the small and mighty Library Systems & Collections team faces daily, sometimes competing demands for their time. The team is highly capable and motivated and is looking for a leader who can protect their capacity, help set priorities, nurture relationships with staff, and situate the team’s work within the broader WCCLS strategy.
