[Libs-Or] Nominations open for 2025-2026 Executive Board candidates!

*Have you wanted to gain leadership experience but haven’t known where to
start?*
*Are you wanting to help advocate for libraries and the communities we
serve at a larger level?*
*Do you wish you were part of a larger team pushing for positive change?*
*Are you vehemently opposed to being made to consider rhetorical questions
in emails and want me to stop asking them?*



Well, you are in luck! I am excited to announce that the search for
candidates for the Oregon Library Association <https://www.olaweb.org/>'s
2025-2026 Executive Board has officially begun (::*cheers*:: ::*applause*::
 ::*confetti*::), and will remain open through *Friday,* *March 14th, 2025*.



There are four positions open for election and *you* (yes,* YOU)* may be
the perfect person to fill one of them. Candidates *need not* be:

·       leadership experts

·       world-renowned orators

·       amateur or professional politicians (*whatever that means*)

·       experienced with board or committee service

·       skilled at making balloon animals (*although that could be fun...*)


We are just looking for folks that are passionate about fostering strong,
informed, inclusive and connected libraries across the state and are
willing to serve alongside other professionals with a shared vision.


We are seeking at least two candidates for the following positions (and
terms):



   - *Vice President* (3-year commitment-- Vice President, President, Past
   President)
      - Provides leadership and support for OLA
      - Works with and supports President
      - Attends ALA Annual Conference
      - Chairs the Executive Board during presidential year



   - *Treasurer* (2-year term)
      - Reviews all fiscal policies and procedures, responding to direction
      from the Executive Board.
      - Chairs Investment Committee



   - *Secretary* (1 year term)
      - Keeps records of Executive Board meetings and retreats.
      - Keeps records of OLA membership meetings.


   - *ALA Councilor/ Representative* (3-year term)
      - Represents OLA on the ALA Council, includes travel to in-person
      annual meeting(s)
      - Reports back ALA communications to OLA Executive Board and
      membership

An expanded list of general duties and responsibilities can be found
attached to this email. Again, nominations for these positions will close
*Friday,* *March 14th, 2025*. If you have questions, need more details,
would like to talk with people who have previously filled one of these
positions, want to nominate a member, or are ready to announce your
candidacy (*look at you, trailblazer!*), please do not hesitate to contact

stumble, your advocacy and efforts are *monumental;* and even if it
