Thanks to everyone who was able to join in the Town Hall last week! The event was recorded and is available here: https://youtu.be/4ONlQTFLtC0 with a link to the slides in the description.

The July town hall focused on LSTA funding-the August town hall will focus on the state budget process.

As shared last week, the State Library Board meeting is next Friday in Pendleton. I'm taking the opportunity to visit several libraries in Eastern Oregon next week, as I drive from Salem to Ontario, La Grande, Enterprise, and then Pendelton. I have also reached out to the state Senators and Representatives of those districts.

LSTA Funding
The FFY26 appropriations mark-up process, that was originally scheduled to begin in the House and the Senate next week, has been delayed until September.

  * It gives us more time to showcase the impact of LSTA funding across the state. Remember to give credit to the funding source<https://slo.oregon.gov/lstagrants/acknowledgment> of any LSTA projects.

  * The timing also increases the likelihood that Continuing Resolutions will be used for the upcoming federal budget.
  * You may start seeing hints of "looming federal shutdown" in the news as we get closer to September.

State Updates

  * The Interim Calendar has been released (see attached) with Legislative Days scheduled for September, November, and January. Also known as E-Board, the State Library will likely only have business in September: the next State Library Board member is scheduled to be confirmed then. The Governor has yet to finalize her selection for this position, which represents public libraries in Eastern Oregon.
  * The Senate and House have both appointed members to the E-Board (also attached).

Great to connect with academic library leaders as part of the Orbis Cascade Alliance meeting last week! I'll be joining in the opening day celebrations of the Albina Library in Portland tomorrow.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Wendy
