Good afternoon,
I am happy to announce the next event in the 2025-26 Oregon State University Libraries & Press Speaker Series:
SCARC: A Bird’s Eye View
Rachel Lilley and Anna Dvorak
Thursday April 9, 3-4pm, Willamette West classroom in Valley Library, and on Zoom: https://oregonstate.zoom.us/j/97529498679?pwd=AYyhJGbokpfOOgbwtbRtD24zF2ufca.1
In OSU's Special Collections and Archives Research Center, Rachel’s and Anna's primary duty is to assist researchers: introducing them to archival research, tools, and resources; connecting them with subject experts based on their interests; and making materials available during appointments and through digitization. Public Services Unit is also the support unit for the SCARC across all its functions and priorities. This Seminar Series presentation - Reference Services in SCARC: a Bird’s Eye View - will show how all aspects of Public Service work in SCARC are connected, demonstrate how Public Services is integrated into all SCARC work, and emphasize how providing access is central to Public Service work.
Rachel Lilley (she/they) is the Public Services Unit Supervisor at the Oregon State University Special Collections and Archives Research Center (SCARC), and has worked as a reference archivist for over a decade (eight years of which has been at OSU). She holds an M.A. in History with a concurrent certificate in Archives and Records Management from Western Washington University.
Anna Dvorak (she/her) began her career at SCARC in 2015 as a Student Archivist working as a Pauling Blog author. She has had various titles and worked on a wide-range of archival projects before becoming a permanent, full-time, member of SCARC staff in August 2022. In 2019, Dvorak was awarded a doctorate in the History of Science; her dissertation focused on nuclear history and science in early Cold War policy, Leo Szilard, and science in literature. As Public Services Assistant, she also supervises SCARC’s Public Services Student Archivists and promotes SCARC on social media.
