Rethinking Obesity: 
A Compassionate and Collaborative Approach to Weight Concerns 
15th Annual Columbia River Eating Disorder Network Conference

Date/Time: Saturday, February 18, 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

Location: Lewis & Clark College, Portland OR

 

This conference offers fresh perspectives on the obesity epidemic with
special emphasis on childhood obesity and clinical practice. Plenary
sessions: 

Celebrating All Shapes and Sizes: Helping Children and Teens Feel Good
About Their Bodies and About Themselves by Sandra Friedman, B.S.W.,
M.A.; and Caution: Dieting and Exercise can be Hazardous to Your Health
by Kenneth L. Weiner, M.D., FAED, CEDS.  

 

Breakout sessions include:

A Compassionate Approach to Weight Concerns in the Medical Setting by
David A. McAnulty, M.D., Natasha Polensek, M.D., F.A.A.P., and
Jacqueline Abbott, Dr.PH, RD, LD; Health at Every Size: Practical
Applications in the Clinical Setting by Hilary Kinavey, M.S., LPC and
Dana Sturtevant, M.S., RD; and Supporting Clients Who Choose Weight Loss
Surgery by Jennifer Tolman, Ph.D., Sara Hunt, Ph.D., and Kelly
Laschkewitsch, RD.
