Play Therapy is a dynamic, creative style of psychotherapy that is
designed to honor and foster each child's growth and psychological
health while actively, often indirectly, dealing with past trauma and
current behavioral struggles.  This workshop is designed to
maximize your therapeutic creativity while respecting current learning
and research on individual and group play therapy.

Participants Will Be Able To:

1. Describe the theoretical framework of Trauma Focused-Cognitive
Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and the Components.

2. Describe and utilize structured play therapy interventions for the
following components: relaxation, affect expression and modulation,
and enhancing future safety.

3. Develop a treatment plan that engages the child or adolescent and
uses the core components of TF-CBT to address presenting problems.

4. Describe the trauma narrative and how play can be implemented to
discuss and process the narrative.

5. Utilize play with TF-CBT with diverse populations.

Oregon Association for Play Therapy will provide 6 contact hours of
Continuing Education (CE) through NASW and APT. ORAPT is an APT
approved provider. Provider #99-054.

Dr. Angela Cavett is a child and adolescent psychologist who specializes
in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of child and adolescent
mental health issues. She is in private practice at Knowlton, O'Neill
and Associates in West Fargo, ND and an adjunct faculty at the
University of North Dakota in the Department of Counseling Psychology.
She is a mental health volunteer for the Red Cross. She completed her
doctorate at the University of North Dakota and a Child Clinical
Psychology Internship at the Astor Home for Children in
Rhinebeck, New York.
