Guiding Recovery Through Education and Wellness
2011 Northwest Institute of Addictions Studies Conference
The 2011 NWIAS conference features a streamlined 2-day format,
practitioner wellness fair, and 15 CEUs for only $150 ($165 if
registered after July 7). We are also pleased to offer a special hotel
rate of $89 per night for attendees wishing to stay on-site. 
Dates/Times: Thursday-Friday, July 21-22, 8:15 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Working with Transgender Clients
This course will help participants develop a critical consciousness in
relation to gender-related bias in therapeutic approaches. Suggestions
for practice will include transpositive theoretical approaches,
addressing ethical dilemmas including critical examination of Gender
Identity Disorder diagnosis, clinical paperwork, and marketing as a
transgender-affirmative therapist. A limited number of seats are
available - register today to secure your participation.

Wilderness and Adventure Therapy
This course explores the application of mental health and substance
abuse treatment in outdoor settings and discusses therapeutic uses of
outdoor challenge activities for recreation, personal growth and
reflection, and to enhance counseling & psychotherapy.
Dates/Times: August 15-19, week-long course with one day on the Lewis &
Clark College campus and 4 days camping in the field.

Understanding Infant Adoption
Gain an enhanced understanding of the evolving complexities of 21st
century adoption in this free workshop presented through the Infant
Adoption Training Initiative. Explore the history of adoption, confront
stereotypes and myths, and cultivate respectful language and
terminology. This training is free and lunch is provided (fee waived
thanks to the Infant Adoption Training Initiative).
Dates/Times: Friday, September 16, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
