Lewis & Clark College upcoming professional development opportunities
for counselors and therapists.

	Clinical Supervision
	Wednesday-Saturday, November 30-December 3, 8 am - 5 pm Wed-Fri;
9 am -noon Sat.
	This course gives clinicians the information and skills
necessary to develop competence in counseling supervision. It also meets
the 30-hour requirement for the supervisors of candidates seeking
licensure from the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and
Therapists (OBLPCT).

	Gender & Power: Creating Change in Couple Therapy
	Friday January 20, 9 am - 4 pm
	This workshop presents Socio-Emotional Relationship Therapy
(S.E.R.T.), a practice model for addressing gender and power issues in
couple therapy.  Participants will learn how to work with the links
between emotion, socio-cultural context, and couple interactions.

	Ethics Symposium for Mental Health Professionals
	Saturday, January 28, 9 am - 3:30 pm
	This six hour symposium is designed for mental health
professionals to come together in a collaborative learning opportunity
to consider the merits of ethical practices and meets OR and WA state
LPC licensure requirements for Ethics training. Featured speakers from
the OR LPC licensing board and health care litigation will provide
current and essential information that impacts ethical practices.

	The Basic Mindfulness Toolkit
	Saturday, February 11, 9 am - 4:30 pm
	Participants will learn to use mindfulness to transform
maladaptive defenses (fight, flight, freeze/submit) into adaptive
strategies (turn towards, turn away, turn to rest) for coping. These
three exercises become a strategy in the Basic Mindfulness Toolkit,
which can be easily taught to clients and have an immediate impact on a
broad range of client diagnoses.

	15th Annual CREDN Conference for Professionals "Rethinking
Obesity: A Compassionate and Collaborative Approach to Weight Concerns"
	Saturday, February 18, 8:30 am - 4 pm

Helping Children and Teens Feel Good About Their Bodies and About
Themselves by Sandra Friedman, B.S.W., M.A.; Caution: Dieting and
Exercise Can be Hazardous to Your Health, by Kenneth L. Weiner, M.D.,
FAED, CEDS; Health at Every Size: Practical Applications in the Clinical
Setting, by Dana Sturtevant, M.S., RD and Hilary Kinavey, M.S., LPC.
