Module One begins with the M.E.T.A. concept of integrating diverse mindful and experiential therapy approaches. Referencing recent research in neurobiology, M.E.T.A. focuses on understanding the different kinds of woundedness clients present, and the specific interventions for those wounds. The Training then offers an immersion course in the Hakomi Method of Body-Centered Psychotherapy. With careful attention to working relationship, the Method utilizes the client's present somatic experience as a rapid and experiential route to unconscious material. Originated by Ron Kurtz and elaborated by subsequent Trainers, the Hakomi Method, is known for its elegant and integrated use of mindfulness, the psychology of the body, and non-violence in psychotherapy. This module includes all three, both as curriculum and as the heart of the training experience itself.

LEARN TO:
* Deepen therapy beyond clinical conversation
* Recognize & respond appropriately to the four kinds of psychological woundedness
* Create functional, bounded, attachment-based therapeutic relationships
* Apply time-proven techniques for applying MINDFULNESS to therapy and counseling
* Work experientially and somatically
* Use the psychology of the body in safe ways
* Befriend client defenses and transmute resistance
* Work with present experience as direct routes to core material
