This is not an endorsement. The Basic Mindfulness Toolkit When doctors made house calls they carried a 'black bag' of a few essential diagnostic and treatment tools. In The Basic Mindfulness Toolkit Dr. Janet Sims will present her version of a black bag-a few tools selected for their broad utility in helping people with the mental, emotional and physical challenges of living. Basic Mindfulness is a unique reworking of vipassana (mindfulness meditation) specifically designed to use logical categories of experience and strategic approaches to increasing mindfulness in daily life. With this workshop you will learn: 1) The core mindful awareness focusing skills of the The Basic Mindfulness Toolkit (BMT). 2) A 2-step process for how to choose a mindfulness technique to address the particular issue or concern that we experience personally or that clients present as treatment goals: * Difficult emotions * Behavior change * Urges * Rest and renewal * Sense-of-self challenges * Self-care and exploration 3) Through case examples and self-practice, participants will experience the application of the BMT, both as a client treatment tool and to further self-care and personal development.
