Rethinking Self and Therapy in a Globalizing World

A rich reservoir of healing and change practices exist across the globe, but standard mental health education provides few opportunities for clinicians to learn about them.

This workshop offers an international perspective of clinical work including ideas and space to develop clinical competencies as a global professional, as well as an overview of international healing and change practices that can be incorporated into therapeutic work with individuals, couples, and families.

Participants will:

  *   Learn ways of bridging cultural barriers when working with clients of different nationalities.
  *   Learn how to avoid the barriers to clinical process can be caused by unintentional nationalism.
  *   Explore ideas on how to draw on international healing and change practices in their clinical work.

Date: Friday, March 14, 2014

Time: 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Location: Lewis & Clark College, Portland, OR

Instructor: Jason Platt, Ph.D.

Cost: $75 by 5 p.m. 2/21, $95 after, includes 6 CEUs. $40 students.
