The Affordable Care Act (ACA) requires the creation of patient-centered primary care homes that integrate behavioral health services into the fabric of their day-to-day operations. Numerous state and federal agencies are providing incentives to facilitate this paradigm shift in how we think about and deliver healthcare. Basic Concepts Of Primary Care Behavioral Health For LPCs and LMFTs

The integration of mental health professionals into primary care practices is a growing trend requiring significant practice and professional development changes by mental health specialists. This seminar will provide participants with the basic knowledge necessary to decide whether such a career path suits their skill set, whether additional training may be necessary, and basics considerations for implementation of new programs. The training has been developed as part of a larger sequence of training offered by Fairleigh Dickinson University's Certificate Program in Integrated Primary Care.

About the Speakers:
Neftali Serrano, PsyD: is the Chief Behavioral Health Officer at Access Community Health Centers in Madison, WI. He has devoted his entire career to working with federally qualified health centers (FQHC), starting integrated care programs and consulting with clinics in underserved settings to assist with implementation of primary care behavioral health (PCBH) programs through his consulting practice, primarycareshrink.com<http://primarycareshrink.com>. In addition he holds an appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine where he helps train family medicine residents. Dr. Serrano's research interests include program development evaluations and outcome studies related to PCBH, particularly in underserved settings. One of Dr. Serrano's most outstanding contributions to the field of psychology has been his passion to teach and train the future PCBH workforce. In just under a decade of practice he has trained nearly 100 students and professionals in the practice of Behavioral Health Consultation.
M. Hunter Hansen, PsyD, MP: is a Medical Psychologist at Southeast Community Health Systems. These are rural primary care clinics, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). He has consulted with dozens of clinics and trained many clinicians in the Behavioral Health Primary Care (BHCP) model. He has held adjunct positions at Loyola University and Wheaton College and co-developed a certificate program in primary care. He runs iPsyc.com<http://iPsyc.com>, a behavioral health primary care video education website and mobile app. Dr. Hansen has presented on the BHPC for national conferences.
