[OBPEeNews] Health Professionals Impairment Program

[OBPE updates]

Attached you will find information about the new Dept of Human Services "Health Professionals Program" (HPP) set to begin July 1, 2010.  This is the mandated "impairment" program (HB 2345) for all health licensing boards.  That is, if any health licensing board currently has an impairment program in place all enrollees will be transferred into this program.  If a Board does not have a program they may 'opt-in' to the program.  OBPE has opted-out of the program at this time due to concerns (primarily) about the costs to our licensees and the self-referral process.
 
While this Board has opted-out of the program at this time it is important that DHS receive input from our licensees, should the Board decide to opt-in at a future date.
