Oregon Health Authority Rulemaking Notice:
     Common Credentialing Rule Notice

*         WHO this rule relates to: Practitioners who work on patients in a health care facility and are reimbursed by health plans and are credentialed would be impacted by these rules. Credentialing is the standardized process of inquiry undertaken by credentialing organizations (such as health plans, hospitals, and others) to validate specific information that confirms a health care practitioner's identity, background, education, competency and qualifications related to a specific set of established standards or criteria.

*         WHAT this is regarding: The Oregon Common Credentialing Program was mandated by the Oregon legislature to centralize the collection and verification of credentialing information into one electronic system that organizations will have to access to get the information, rather than each of the plans or other organizations independently collecting and verifying it. Please visit the Program's website<http://www.oregon.gov/oha/hpa/ohit-occp/pages/index.aspx> for more information and to sign up to receive notifications of meeting and website updates.

*         WHEN you will begin to use the system: While credentialed practitioners are required to begin using the system November 5, 2018, you do not have to complete your application until the next time you are due to be credentialed or recredentialed although it is recommended to do so 90 days prior to allow time for OHA and organizations to work through the credentialing process. The Program is funded by fees to practitioners and credentialing organizations. Practitioners will pay a one-time application fee of $150 per person that is due on April 30, 2019. Credentialing organizations will also pay a one-time setup fee, and then pay annually based on their practitioner panel size.

*         ATTACHED is the rule filing notice showing the track changes from the originally permanent rule as well as the current temporary rule showing minor changes that may be easier to follow.
