Petition to amend sea urchin permit landing requirement submitted to
Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission
 
SALEM - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission is taking public comment
on a petition to amend the landing requirement for renewal of sea urchin
permits. The Commission will hear the request at its Dec. 12, 2003,
meeting in Salem. Public comments can be provided through Dec. 11, 2003.
 
The petition requests a change to Oregon Administrative Rule
635-006-1075(f)(A)(B) to delete the requirement that holders of sea
urchin permits must land 5,000 pounds of sea urchins annually to qualify
for renewal of the permit for the following year. 
 
In keeping with House Bill 3120, the Commission seeks general public
comment on the rule and petition, as well as specific comment as to
whether options exist for achieving the rule's substantive goals in a
way that reduces the negative economic impact on businesses.
