Comments sought on Siletz River Summer Steelhead program

NEWPORT - The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking written
public comment on a draft Hatchery Genetic Management Plan (HGMP) for
the Siletz Summer steelhead program on the Siletz River. The comment
period opens March 31 and runs through April 21.

HGMP's are required by NOAA Fisheries and provide a review of each
hatchery's current operational components for each fish species reared
at a facility. Following public and ODFW review, the HGMP will be
submitted to NOAA Fisheries for final review. A copy of the draft Siletz
summer steelhead HGMP can be requested from the Midcoast Fish District
office in Newport. The draft is also posted on the ODFW Web site at
www.dfw.state.or.us.

All written comments should be sent to Bob Buckman, ODFW, Midcoast Fish
District, 2040 SE Marine Science Dr., Newport, OR 97365 or emailed to
Robert.C.Buckman at state.or.us. Comments must be received or postmarked
by 5:00 p.m. on April 21, 2004.
