Fish Restoration and Enhancement Board to hold October meeting in The
Dalles
 
SALEM - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife's Fish Restoration and
Enhancement Board today announced an Oct. 21-22 meeting in The Dalles. 
 
The meeting will be held at the ODFW Screen Shop, 3561 Klindt Dr. The
Oct. 21 meeting is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and the Oct. 22
meeting is scheduled from 8-10 a.m. The agenda includes a review of the
latest grant applications, a discussion of future program strategies,
overview of the R&E program budget, updates on current hatchery upgrades
and repairs, and other business. 
 
Created by the Oregon Legislature in 1989, the Fish Restoration and
Enhancement Program is funded by a surcharge on sport and commercial
fishing licenses and commercial poundage fees. The program's
seven-member citizen board reviews fish restoration and enhancement
project proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Oregon Fish
and Wildlife Commission. 
 
The meeting is open to the public, and an opportunity for public comment
is scheduled. 
 
Following the official meeting, Board members may meet for dinner to
discuss matters of interest. Members of the public are welcome to join
Board members for dinner. The dinner location will be announced during
the course of the meeting.
 
A field trip to view projects funded by the R&E Program is scheduled
Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Members of the public may accompany the
group using their own transportation. Persons seeking additional
