Fish and Wildlife Commission to meet in Salem
SALEM - The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet Feb. 9-10 at
the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife Headquarters in Salem.
Thursday's meeting, which begins at noon, will include selection of the
artwork that will be used for the 2006 upland game bird stamp and a
discussion with officials from the Oregon Department of Administrative
Services about the recruitment process for the next ODFW Director.
The Commission encourages all Oregonians with an interest in the
director recruitment process to become involved. Members of the public
may present testimony directly to the Commission during the Thursday
portion of the meeting, or may submit comments via forms available at
the meeting and online to identify and rank the skills and assets most
important to a successful ODFW Director.
Friday's meeting, which begins at 8 a.m., will include a presentation on
sea lions by officials from the National Marine Fisheries Service,
finalization of spring chinook and sturgeon angling rules for the
Columbia River, and a review of staff recommendations for summer and
fall chinook fisheries on the Columbia.
The draft Oregon Cougar Management Plan has been moved to the
Commission's April agenda to allow more time for public comment.
The Commission is the policy-making body for fish and wildlife issues in
the state. The seven-member panel meets monthly. Agenda item exhibits
may be requested by calling the ODFW Director's Office at 800-720-6339
