Marine science experts from Oregon, California, and Washington have been invited to participate in the workshop. The public is welcomed to attend this workshop in observation. Workshop Purpose ODFW has concluded two years of baseline data collection at two marine reserve sites, Redfish Rocks and Otter Rock. The agency is starting to plan sampling for three potential new marine reserve sites at: Cape Perpetua, Cascade Head, and Cape Falcon. ODFW will be seeking advice on current monitoring activities, including adjustments that may be needed for monitoring at the new sites and the frequency of specific monitoring activities as part of the state's long-term monitoring strategy. Evaluation of the 2010 marine reserves community team process Message-ID: <4F57757C3CF88A42B9339FC0C04BF726014EBA98@fwhqeb.odfw.int> Hello Marine Reserve Listserv Members: ODFW staff has contracted OSU to conduct a rapid evaluation of the 2010 marine reserves community team process for Cape Falcon, Cascade Head, and Cape Perpetua. We chose to use an outside evaluator, rather than conduct the study ourselves, to facilitate an independent and objective evaluation. Arwen Bird is the Marine Resource Management graduate student working with Flaxen Conway of Oregon Sea Grant to conduct this research. The report that OSU generates from the study will help ODFW learn about what did and didn't work during the community team process and lessons learned can be applied to future community engagement. If you are a member of the public and attended the 2010 community team meetings for Cape Falcon, Cascade Head, and/or Cape Perpetua and would like to participate in this rapid evaluation please contact Arwen (abird at coas.oregonstate.edu). Arwen will then be contacting you, and representatives from the community teams, to participate in a web-based survey. If you have any questions about this rapid evaluation, please feel free to contact me or Arwen Bird. Your input would be invaluable in helping the ODFW Marine Resources Program improve community engagement in marine reserves and other marine resource issues in the future. We hope you take the time to participate.
