New rules for conservation energy incentives go into effect today


SALEM - New temporary rules related to energy incentives (tax credits) for conservation projects go into effect today. A copy of the rules can be found on the Oregon Department of Energy's website at: http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/CONS/Rulemaking2011-HB3672.shtml#Energy_Incentives_Program_Rules

The new temporary rules are a result of House Bill 3672 (2011). After January 1, 2012, ODOE will be issuing its first opportunity announcement for conservation projects. At that time, corresponding forms will also be available.

These new rules, developed with the assistance of a broad array of stakeholders, will allow for:

*         a streamlined process for small conservation projects under $20,000, and

*         a competitive process for other conservation projects.

The department will be adopting permanent rules later in 2012.
