Biological assessments address specific impacts of transportation projects on listed endangered species and describe actions to avoid, minimize and mitigate those impacts. As a non-Federal representative, ODOT has been given responsibility by Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to work with National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) to conduct Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 7 consultation. This certification class will ensure that people producing a Biological Assessment (BA) have the knowledge and tools to provide the correct amount of information as it relates to transportation projects.
