Subject: TRAINING OPPORTUNITY: Public Right-of-Way Accessibility

Please forward to other people you think may be interested in this training opportunity:

ODOT is sponsoring "Public Right-of-Way Accessibility." This training enhances participant knowledge of pedestrian accessibility and the US Access Board's proposed Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) and how they affect the way facilities are designed, constructed, and inspected.

This training is for the person who has previous knowledge and experience in designing, constructing, and inspecting ADA accessible street and sidewalk facilities on public right-of-way. (If you are looking for a basic course in designing accessible pedestrian facilities, Initiative for Bicycle & Pedestrian Innovation is offering this training through Portland State University. Click on the following link for information about that training: http://www.ibpi.usp.pdx.edu/media/2012AccessibilityWorkshopFINAL.pdf )

The instructor for this event is Melissa Anderson, P.E. Melissa is a Transportation Engineer with the US Access Board. She has over 17 years of experience in transportation planning and engineering for city and state governments. Melissa assists in the Board's development of guidelines for accessible public rights-of-way and updates its ADA guidelines for transportation vehicles. She provides technical assistance and training to the public on accessibility in transportation and pedestrian network systems.
The event is scheduled for October 3rd. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. This training is located in Wilsonville.
