Harvard/CDC Study Finds College Student Drinking Lower in States With
Stricter Alcohol Laws
A college's location plays a large role in the drinking habits of its
students, according to a study released on Tuesday that correlates
lower
rates of drinking with tougher state alcohol laws.
The study, the latest in a series by the Harvard School of Public
Health and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, found
that the rate of heavy drinking among college students was lower in
states with four or more laws discouraging high-volume alcohol sales
than in states that did not have such laws.
