An Economic Improvement District (EID) or Business Improvement District (BID) is a type of assessment district where property owners and business owners choose to be assessed a fee which is collected by the city for use in promoting and improving a specified business area. The concept of an EID/BID is similar to that of a Local Improvement District (LID), however, rather than funding streets and sidewalks, an EID/BID funds non-capital projects of a revitalization program. It is one of the funding mechanism several of our communities use to support their main street organizations.
