[OMS_MANAGERS] RARE Program - Call for Community Applications

My understanding is the RARE program costs $50,000. We do not have $50,000 so if this is truly a volunteer position great. True? Untrue? Please let me know because if there's no money involved we might apply. Thanks, JKH

Please help us spread the good word about the RARE Program!  This year alone, we are have participants working with Astoria Downtown Historic District Association, Coos Bay Downtown Association, La Grande Main Street, and  Milton-Freewater Downtown Association.  In other words, we love working with organizations and communities who are following the Main Street Approach. 

 

Do you have community building, natural resource or planning projects that you do not have resources to complete?

The Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) Program might be your solution.

 

The mission of the RARE AmeriCorps Program is to increase the capacity of rural communities to improve their economic, social, and environmental conditions, through the assistance of trained graduate-level participants, from across the US. These RARE AmeriCorps participants live in and serve the communities for 11 months. RARE AmeriCorps participants assist communities in the development and implementation of projects for achieving a sustainable natural resource base and improving rural economic conditions. The RARE AmeriCorps Program is now in its 19th year and has placed more than 400 volunteers and served nearly every Oregon County.
