Applications are now available for the Elizabeth Walton Potter Oregon Heritage Preservation Scholarship. The award provides financial assistance for Oregon residents to attend a heritage related conference, workshop or training in the United States from now until June 30, 2015. This award has allowed dozens of Oregonians to attend heritage conferences across the country by helping offset the costs of conference registration fees, airfare, mileage, lodging and meals. Awards are competitive and generally range from $500-$1500.

Winners have use the funds to facilitate travel to:


  *   Vernacular Architecture Forum;
  *   National Trust for Historic Preservation Conference;
  *   National Main Street Conference;
  *   Pacific Northwest Preservation Field School;
  *   Historic Roads Conference;
  *   Association for Preservation technology Conference;
  *   National Alliance of Preservation Commissions Forum;
  *   Oregon Main Street Conference;
  *   Oregon Heritage Conference;
  *   and many more

Winners are expected to share their experiences on the Oregon Heritage exchange blog or in some other public presentation approved by Oregon Heritage staff.

The scholarship is offered by Oregon Heritage, part of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, in honor of Elizabeth Walton Potter. Potter was a long-time historian with the State Historic Preservation office and coordinator for the National Register of Historic Places program in Oregon.

The deadline for nominations is December 19.
