- HB 5005/HB 3526: HB 3526 (Oregon Main Street Revitalization Grant Program) was referred to Ways and Means Subcommittee on Capital Construction as part of HB 5005 (this bill relates to the issuance of all lottery bonds for the 2015-2017 biennium and would be the funding mechanism for HB 3526 if it passes). There is a hearing on Friday, May 29, 1 p.m., HR F.

- SB 565 Main Street Revitalization Tax Credit: This is the initiative you have heard about from Restore Oregon. Currently, it is still with the Joint Committee on Tax Credits in the Senate.

2. Grant Opportunity: There is less than one week until the June 1 deadline for the National Trust Preservation Funds grant! Grants encourage preservation at the local level by providing seed money for planning and education projects. These grants help stimulate public discussion, enable local groups to gain the technical expertise needed for particular projects, introduce the public to preservation concepts and techniques, and encourage financial participation by the private and public sectors. Applications are due Monday, June 1, 2015. Grants range up to $5,000 and require a dollar-for-dollar match. Full eligibility requirements and grant guidelines, along with a link to our application, can be found at www.preservationnation.org/funding. Questions? Contact the grants office at 202-588-6277 or grants at savingplaces.org<mailto:grants at savingplaces.org>.

4. UpstairsDowntown Workshop: On June 15th, 1-5 p.m., the Klamath Falls Downtown Association will be hosting an Upstairs Downtown workshop featuring Mike Jackson and Dan Carmody. Mike Jackson and Dan Carmody developed the content for the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency's UpstairsDowntown(tm) upper story redevelopment program for the Illinois Main Street program in 2005. Over the past 10 years, many communities across the nation have been inspired to redevelop the upper stories of their historic buildings under Dan and Mike's tutelage. They continue to provide their expertise to communities across the U.S. today. This very relevant program focuses on building community capacity to revitalize its underutilized assets and helps stakeholders work together to create a greater downtown by putting the market forces to work for a more resilient and compelling place. The UpstairsDowntown program is designed for building owners, contractors, architects, city officials, preservationists, and downtown professionals. Additional info about the workshop will be available soon.
