Hi Justine - You might check w/your local postmaster but the two that jump out to explore are:

Philanthropic: A philanthropic (charitable) organization is a nonprofit organization organized and operated to benefit the public.

Under the list of qualifying organizations includes “to lessen the burdens of government”  which is one of the reasons local main street organizations qualify for 501c3 nonprofit status.

Educational: An educational organization is a nonprofit organization whose primary purpose is the instruction or training of individuals for improving or developing their capabilities or the instruction of the public on subjects beneficial to the community.

In main street communities the focus is educating the community about the importance of downtown revitalization, historic preservation, business improvement, social engagement, etc.

After exploring the eligibility limitations, I'm uncertain a Main Street would qualify. If you did, under what category of the 'Type of Organization' (Section 9 of this application: https://about.usps.com/forms/ps3624.pdf) did you classify?
