A Happy Easter to one and all! The Easter bunny at the National
Archives has provided an early gift for those of us who are already
aware that the 1930 Census which is being released Monday (April 1,
2002) has no Soundex index for the state of Oregon. To help the
researcher, the National Archives has provided an online search help
that identifies the layout of enumeration districts within counties so
when one does begin a search, you'll know exactly where to go before
going throught the challenging task of finding the folks you are trying
to locate. You may wish to share this information with your browsers on
your county sites.

Go to:
http://1930census.archives.gov/beginSearch.asp

Type in (or find) Oregon, and then when a new screen comes up,
find the county you are looking for, and then go to page 1, and click
enter, and it will show you the arrangement order of townships & broughs
(or more specifically, the enumeration districts) within a roll of
microfilm.

note: I already ordered Baker - Grant Counties roll for myself
and will transcribe Baker and Grant first then the rest of roll.
I expect to receive it sometime in June according to the company
I ordered from. Don't pester me for lookups, as I will NOT do that.
