Subject: 150 Years Ago Today - Happy Anniversary, IRVINES!
Greetings:
On October 13th, 1852 Margaret Hadley Irvine, along with eight of her
nine children and their related families, completed their long trek from
Missouri to Oregon. The Irvines began their journey in the spring of
1852, aware that their mother was ill and in hopes that she would find
renewed health in the West. Sadly, it was not to be. Margaret Hadley
Irvine died the day of their arrival, and is buried at Lee Mission
Cemetery in Salem, Oregon.
In honor of the 150th anniversary of their arrival, I've posted an
IRVINE FAMILY TREE at:
http://www.myfamilyjones.com/Family/Irvines/IrvineIndex.htm
Here you'll find stories of their journey and other sketches of the
lives of the IRVINES, CLAGGETTS, MCNARYS and related families.
Of course, I should have started this project months, even years ago,
but instead I waited until last night to put it together. So consider
this a ***work in progress***, please! I have much more material to
post, including many photographs (suddenly my scanner is fritzed.)
Regards,
Lisa
