[or-roots] Brick walls and "unscribe"

Thank you for your wonderful comments Cecil! Although a Native
Oregonian, all of my "pioneer" ancestors did their pioneering in MA, CT,
PA, OH, VA, KY, IL, IA, NE, KS, and CO -- but I'm still "scribed" to
this list -- maybe I can help others in my admittedly rather narrow area
of Oregon expertise.

At the risk of offending the "unscribers" who only are seeking
information on "their" family, we are ALL the family of man, and one
never knows where that next bit of information might lead -- a few years
ago my wife and I uncovered the fact that we are eighth cousins, twice
removed, and through a different pair of ancestors, ninth cousins. Had
we ignored those connections that may not strike us immediately, we
would have likely never uncovered the commonality of these ancestors.

I find it quite a shame that the archives no longer can access the
Eugene obits that were entered under the earlier format of this list.
What a wonderful resource, [hopefully] still laying around somewhere,
just inaccessible

And as for "brick walls", yes I have one, but surely "brick" wall is a
misnomer. Actual brick and mortar walls deconstruct rather easily, one
brick at a time, and generally, even if left alone, the mortar will
start to crumble -- view any Inca or Roman ruins -- and the internet
seems to work wonders as a crumbling agent. Even concrete walls, with
time, energy and a teaspoon can be penetrated. If the Berlin Wall no
longer stands ...
