I am confused here, I was under the impression that clicking on reply on my
outlook tool bar sent my reply to the list;
or-roots at sosinet.sos.state.or.us

I apparently missed the change, since when I want to address the list I open
a new email and address it from my address book. If I want to send only to
an individual I extract their email addy from the From portion of the email
header which in Bill & Chris's for example you will see is;
lechevrier at earthlink.net which you will find in the brackets below.

or-roots-admin at sosinet.sos.state.or.us; on behalf of; Bill & Chris
Strickland [lechevrier at earthlink.net]

Now that all may seem like a lot of work to those folks who are locked into
using their reply or reply to buttons, but there are a couple of reasons why
I do it besides not having caught on to the fact I didn't have to to avoid
cluttering up the list; one: the Re that gets appended annoys me, two: I get
control of the subject line that way, I just love folks that hit the reply
button and then talk on a subject totally irrelevant to the subject line of
the email they are replying to. "picky . . . picky . . . picky"

As to activity level, it is summer, maybe folks also have drifted to other
projects, I know I haven't had much time to devote to you folks lately, of
to my own folks for that matter. I also note that the Wheeler list which is
usually more active than this one except those rare occasions where somebody
stirs the anthill here like the "Cecil Wars" has become very inactive, so
maybe genealogy in general has hit a bit of a summer or recessional lull??

Perhaps too it is a little bit as Walt implied, folks are more reluctant to
post since Cecil was chastised for posting "too much"!

Ya can chastise me all ya want, but unless List Mom kicks my what off, I
will continue to post when and what I choose, such as my reference a while
back to California sources which might seem way off topic, but most of us
who have roots very far back in Oregon either have lost some family to the
south or have ancestors who came north or in my case both ways.

Speaking of good resources, I stumbled across some info while searching for
a different thing last night; those with family that were in Coos County
need to check out all the resources at;
http://www.rootsweb.com/~orcoos/index.htm

They have a lot of good stuff online, though not as much of my family as I'd
hoped.
