Here are some links to pages providing information about Oregon adoption
record release laws. In case the links don't work as inserted, go to
www.bastardnation.com. This is a website for an organization of adoptees who are
activists supporting adoptee's rights. While not a genealogy site, this website and
related links make it probably the most complete resource for those searching
for families of origin.

If you already have valid information regarding name of birth family, then
online census search would be the place to begin. However, census seach in this
instance may be complicated by the fact that Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon
is the home of Southern Oregon College (Now Southern Oregon University).
While I don't know the student census for that college in the 1930's, there would
certainly have been students passing thru the community who would not
necessarily appear on census records. If either of your grandfather's birth parents
was a college student, the search may be difficult.
