[or-roots] Silverton, Oregon, History

       Hi, I am an Oregon Native and some of my roots started in Silverton, 
Oregon. MY pioneer Grandfather was John Barger. His father -in-law was James 
Smith. They organized the first "sawmill" in Silverton. 
       I have been collecting various articles on my "pioneer  family" of 
Silverton. I have found some information in a book called "Silverton Country" by 
Downs. 
       There is also a story of my "pioneer  ancestor's" donating over 600 
acer's of land to the townsite of Silverton, which is my hometown.
       I am hoping to find more of my relatives to help in bringing this 
wonderful history to the knowledge of my hometown.         Thank you Marianne
