My two cents.   You would really enjoy a genealogy program.
You can run all sorts of reports including a kinship report which would tell your children how all these people are related to them.  I have Family Tree Maker and like it.
If you purchase the software my suggestion would be to buy only the basic program, not all the extras that come with some packages.
