[or-roots] Image Insert

It didn't come through on my system Connie, maybe because MS is phobic about
Mac world. What you actually have in your email is a arguement referring to
the location of your photo on your sytem. Once the email leaves your
computer the email no longer has access to it.

It looks like this;

<p><img SRC="file:///%20/Desktop%20Folder/mywww/Connie%20Portrait.JPG"
NOSAVE BORDER=0 height=110 width=80>

IF you look between the slashes above you see %20desktop, that is telling
the computer to go to the desktop for the image, but since I won't find your
portrait on my desktop, all I get is a blank box with an X in it.

What AOL is doing is capturing the image when Walt and Barbara insert them
and putting the image somewhere in the vast realm that is the internet and
referencing it thusly;

<DIV><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="cid:033601c3d21b$41bed040$0400a8c0 at barbarian"
align=baseline border=0></DIV>

I wish I had a fuller understanding of this stuff, the reference her to
"cid:03360 etc is the location of Barbara's photo, as I understand it that
means the photo is actually stored on my computer, but I have never been
able to figure out quite how the reference works, I am fairly certain that
if I go to temporay internet files I can find her image and save it on my
computer, but what frustrates me is if I just copy her email and past it
into anything but a blank email, ie into a web page or some such format that
allows insertion of photos, I will still get the bleeping blank box with the
X the only way I have found to avoid that is to copy the text into a blank
document and then find the images in my temporaty internet files and insert
them into the document, which usually seems like more trouble than it is
worth. I only recently figured out I could paste stuff into a blank email if
I wanted to. You probably wonder why would I bother? Well I get a lot of
jokes and things I would like to keep that have been forwarded so many times
that the meat of the email is cluttered with vast quantities of stuff.
Appearance wise I could just edit all that stuff out, but most of it would
still be buried where I got the photo locations you see above and still be
on my computer. I prefer to weed all that out too.

Now that you are all asleep, sweet dreams.

On Macintosh, choose "insert image" then size. This is an experiment, of
course. Will see what happens when I actually do send it. ;-)
