My William Palmer was born in Ingatestone, Essex, England on November 16, 
1848, son on Samuel Palmer and Mary Newman Palmer. He had a business in St. 
Louis, MO before coming to Portland Oregon in 1874. He married Alice Diantha 
Litherland in Oregon City, OR December 16, 1874. They had three children, Robert, 
b.1882, Ethel, b. 1880, and Leslie, b. 1886. William was a building contractor. 
I have two pictures of old hotel, including the Perkins Hotel, that had his 
name on it as the builder. William died in Portland, OR in 1930, and is buried 
at Riverview. He's been a hard man to track down, so if anyone has anything on 
him, I'd love to hear from you.
