[or-roots] Schmidt Nursery & stationery

My folks had property next to Schmidt's. There was only a small portion
facing Sandy Blvd. There was a creek that ran through Osborne's, Turner our
place, Ledbury's and across the street through Freddie's. I don't remember
where it ended up at.

I remember the big farm the Japanese had at Birdsdale & Sandy Blvd. We
could have all the cantaloupe we wanted as long as we brought the seeds
back. There was a big daffodil far around that area. People were hired to
pull the blooms off so all the strength would go to the bulbs before they
were sold. Simpson's use to have a big nursery between Birdsdale and
Osborne Rd.

Diane do you think your husbands cousin was related to these Schmidt's as
the name Frank is very familiar. Betty Schmidt threw a bouquet of flowers
into the car that President Roosevelt was riding in. She almost got into a
lot of trouble but ended up getting a nice thank you note from the
Roosevelts. What would happen today if that was done?
