I have Cooley's Irises, Sorry it I wasn't clear. They are in full bloom on Mother's Day here, I have plenty of visitors at the time of their best blooming season. One year, a couple older ladies, got out of their car with their little shovels and was going to help themselves. When I saw they had what they had come after, I went out and ask what they were doing, Their reply, "Oh we knew your Dad and we just knew you wouldn't mind." Well that was the best Irises that I did not give away, because those ladies give me something, that all the digging in old records will never reveal. Childhood stories of my father. Things that make the genealogy fun and come alive.

Maxine,
You said your roses were from Cooleys. As in the Brownsville Cooleys? Every time my sister and I go into the Brownsville Museum and the volunteers in there hear us laughing, they say they can always tell when descendants of Capt Blakely or the Cooleys are in there because they LAUGH all the time. As I recall there was a lot of interaction between the two families. Weren't they partners is a general store or something? I have it somewhere, but I'll bet Cecil will jump out of the shadows and tell us from right off the top of his head!
<G> Thanks, Midge
