ALLRIGHT I am now convinced; some of these folks, when they were answering
the census taker, were thinking to themselves; " a hundred yars from now
when my grandkids are trying to put together my family history the answers I
give now are going to make them go nuts!!"

I find Sampson French in Douglas Co.; in 1860 he is 20 years old and living
in his father Mooda's house with brother Isaac who is 24, ten years later he
is 36 and living next to John French who is 34. Now that COULD have been
name coincidence, except as of 1880 there are only two "listed" Frenches in
Oregon, Isaac N. age 44 and Samson, age 39. And if that isn't proof enough,
how many folks were in Oregon in 1880 that were born in the Sandwich
Islands??

So then lets go to his father-in-law Joseph Lavadour or however you want to
spell it, in 1860 he says he was born in Illinois and his wife is born in
Oregon. But in 1870 he claims he was born in New York and the wife in
Washington. Now maybe in 1860 she is referring to Oregon "Territory" and in
1870 she wants to clarify the issue, but I have a hard time to see reason
for confusing Illinois with New York. Of course I could be wrong about who I
have in 1870 since he is spelled Laboror, but since two of the children and
spouse match pretty well I doubt it.

I used to have a life, now I do genealogy
