Per Oregon Geographic Names 6th edition the mines were discovered in 1885 on the South Slope of the Wallowa Mountains and ran until after world war 2 the post office ran until 1942.

Hi,
I don't recall reading about it, right off the bat. It may be in these magazines, but not sure.
But, I have been to the town of Cornacopia, Halfway, Baker Co., Oregon. I do have a modern version of: Early Oregon Atlas,
that shows mines & all that, hold on here, I will look and see if the Cornacopia Mine is in here. Nope, can't find it in here / sorry!
There is a picture of an old house, on the front cover of this Early Oregon Atlas under picture it says "From the ruins of Cornucopia". That's how they spelled it back then...Cornucopia. I guess. Sorry, couldn't find anything on the mine.
Nancy
