Midge;
I can't swear to it, but I think I was doing research on somebody's family
tree a while back, specifically looking for their ancestors homestead and
noted that their homestead wasn't far from a butte of the same name. It
might have been Ray and his Powells, but my memory is like his, not great,
so I can't swear to that, I found the map, but have no idea where the email
it was attached to is. Unfortunately I have fallen rather behind in my
OR-roots archiving. Last time I checked the ORegon list folder had over a
thousand emails in it.
For anyone curious about Powell Butte should check out;

okay, it looks like I am confused, that's a first! It seems Powell butte is
in Eastern Oregon which means it was some other surname I was working on and
found a butte to match in Portland. Could not turn up the origin of the name
online, maybe somebody out there with that referecnce book with all that
stuff in it for Oregon, Atlas Gazeteer whatever the heck it is, maybe
they'll check.

Hi,
So if you're Powell's were early to Oregon and in the Portland area, are
they the Powells of Powell St, and I think there is also a Powell Butte? No
relation, just curious. Midge
