I grew up in Noti, Oregon and have heard that story numerous times.  I've
never really known how true the story is, and I was surprised years ago when
I found it listed as an "official" story of how the little town was named.



Hi Barbara -- I grew up in Veneta; went to Central Grade School and later to
Fern Ridge Jr. High and Elmira High.  Knew lots of people from Noti of
course!  And I had grown up hearing the "Him no tie" story too but always
thought it was a joke and not a true story!  Interesting!
