Laura:
I would get in touch with the Southern Oregon Historical Society. They just put on a great Heritage Conference in Ashland and they seem to be very knowledgeable about the heritage of the Ashland and Jackson County area.
They have a web site at www.sohs.org
I'm not sure if there is any connection or the same Beebe family, however we were on a tour of Jacksonville yesterday and we passed the "Beebe House" in Jacksonville.
Good hunting :-)

Subject: [or-roots] Vaupel-Beebe Store in Ashland, OR
Anyone know anything about the Beebe family that owned the Vaupel-Beebe Department Store in Downtown Ashland that is now a national historic site. They came from Junction City to Ashland around 1895? Beebe was married to Olive Page- Daughter of James Addison Bushnell, one of the founders of the Northwest Christian College.
  Thanks,
  Laura C.
