the seating area was not there in September 1995 when I took my
mother for her birthday (it was few days after grandma's funeral).
I have photos of the trail.

The view straight ahead from the seating area is the city of Haines.
Just southwest of Haines is the first permament settlement called
Wingville. Auburn wasn't permament. Baker City (9 miles south, out of
view on left side in the photo) wasn't in existence just yet.

And you haven't checked out Durkee Cemetery yet!
