He is buried in the Dufur Cemetery.
 
On the 1900 census, Whitman County, Branham Precinct, Washington,
he is living with David M. Sanders 62, and Barbara C. Sanders 53.
The were both born in MO.  Jesse Hardwick is listed as an adopted
nephew.
 
Do you remember the address of Jesse in the Portland Directory?

On the 1930 Census Oregon, Wasco County, Thompson Precinct, there
is a 
Jesse J. Hardwick  boarder  48 single  working on a wheat farm.
He was born in Oregon.  Unknown for his parents.
 
The Oregon Death Index, 1903-98 has Jesse J. Hardwick with a
death date of April 25, 1958, in Wasco County, Certificate 4898.
