Positing from letter dates (1895 - 1905) I checked Census, number one; no
sign of Lewis Harman 1860 1870 1880 ??

No Harman surname in Jackson Co.;

CAMPBELL CHARLIE P 25 M W OH OR JACKSON BARRON PCT 1900
Cambell, Charlie laborer W M Aug 1875 25 Ohio Virginia West Virginia

Garber - NO,

HARRISON HELENA A 43 F W MI OR JACKSON MEDFORD 1900
NO connection to Virginia

MORRILL CHARLES E 39 M W IL OR JACKSON GOLD HILL 1900
NO connection to Virginia

There are three Andrews in 1900 Census, also NO connection to Virginia.

Drat I was hoping for an obvious connection, but Charlie Cambell is the only
lead, as I understand it the addressee of the letters doesn't make it plain
who would have brought them here? In my infamous "Letters to Grandma" packet
there were a few letters that were in fact not addressed to her which I had
to puzzle over sometimes as the letters did not make sense until I figured
out who they were actually to.

Now I limited my search to Jackson County, that might have been a mistake,
the individual who was responsible for those letters being here might have
been somewhere in a neighboring county and the lettes just happened to end
up where they did, or Horror of Horrors, a descendant could have brought
them out here ten years ago and there is absolutely no reason why they are
in Oregon except that. Too bad whoever left them there didn't leave an
explanation.

How this packet ended up in the Rogue Valley in Oregon
is a real mystery
