Years ago I had a claim on a bridge in LA County which crossed one of the
cement
waterways. A large construction crew had been hired to repair it.
Following one day
of said repairs, by evening the bridge understructure was ablaze. Despite
TV and
radio warnings to "Stay Away", the usual crowd of lookie loos gathered. As
they
pressed closer, it was discovered that under the bridge was a live 6" gas
pipe.
Just about that time "BOO- OOM". Scene was of old ladies hurtling hedges,
young ones going over car hoods. I did not get the claim until the
following
morning, and when I checked in to make sure - "Hey, there is no bridge here?
There was silence on the the other end of the telelphone line - "No Bridge?
"That's right!! The Court later awarded a house wife a judgement for a hip
fractured in escaping from the explosion.

The Construction crew had used gas torches to remove rusty bolts. The wood
was propably 20 years old and covered with tar and paint. A disaster in the
making.
