What Walt says is correct, it is the responsibility of the family or the
deceased to provide for a grave marker, as I understand it state law
requires cemeteries to provide a temporary marker for one year, and it is at
the disgression of the maintenance folks whether they respect the markers
past that year. Since we started our project on the Reedsport cemetery
several of the temporary markers have been wiped out by the mowing machine
and others moved.

When my maternal grandfather was buried, gram paid $35 for his perpetual
care. The lodge that was then in charge of the cemetery is now combined with
the Reedsport Lodge and quite frankly have been reluctant to maintain the
cemetery, but when a group of people formed an organization to take over the
maintenance etc, they opted to more or less fulfull thier maintenance
obligations.
