Suzanne;

This is a classic example of how reliable Census material is, I went looking
for your thomas Clark in the 1880 LDS index and he wasn't any of the six
listed in Oregon, so I searched for Clark in yamhill county and found your
folks;

		    		   Marital 			  Birth		  Father's   Mother's
 Name Relation Status Gender Race Age place Occupation Birthplace
Birthplace
 E. B. CLARK   	Self   	M   Male     W   24   IL   Farmer   	PA   		IN
 Matilda CLARK Wife M Female W 19 MO Keeping House MO
TN
 Riley L. CLARK Son S Male W 1 OR IL MO

Unfortunately, I tried Penn born folks in Oregon, no match for spouse, also
same in Illinois for the age group born between 1818 and 1838 that are in
the 1880 Illinois census, none of them had a spouse born in Indiana. I could
narrow it down to 78 households to look in for 1860 but am too tired from
weekend to try taht tonight, maybe another time.

Okaym scratch that, it was a complete waste of time (see above about
trusting Census info) in 1900 Thomas lists his parents places of birth as
Indiana and Ohio. That irritated me so much I went ahead and ran through the
guys in 1860 Census with birthplace of Indiana looking for one with a child
thomas and wife born in Ohio, found six or eight with wives born in Ohio,
but no children named Thomas anywhere.

I did find one interesting thing though;

CLARK  NELSON  24  M  W  IN  IL  BOND  GREENVILLE P O  1860
 whose wife Susan isn't born in Ohio has a son Riley N. age 2 months. That
is as clsoe to a connection as I could come.

Sorry;

Les C.

PS Ronda, in 1900 Census he lists his birth date as march of 1844 and his
age as 44, since he lists 24 in 1880 I would go with that. Matilda is age 38
b. Sept 1861 in Mo. and thomas is listeds as b. Illinois, ch living at home
Lewis Jan(Jun?) 1881, Frank July 1883

I am new to this list and would appreciate any help I can get.
I am working on the following:
Thomas Benton Clark m. Matilda Forrest in Dayton, Yamhill, Oregon 1876 or
1878.
Their son Riley Lester Clark m. Stella Irene Sims in Portland, Multnomah,
Oregon March 19, 1916.
Riley and Stella were my maternal grandparents.

I have more detailed information, but am looking for Thomas Benton Clark
ancestors or some indication why he was the only one of his family to move
to Oregon.

Thanks
Suzanne
